THAT APRICOT GIVES FRUIT REGULARLY EVERY YEAR

APRICOT DOESN'T SEE FRUIT EVERY YEAR

Many gardeners complain that their apricots do not bear fruit or bear fruit irregularly. The reason is ignorance of the features of this culture, as well as changing climatic conditions. Unfortunately, it is not possible to guarantee the yield by planting a tree. Efforts should be made to shape the crown, protect the tree from diseases and pests, standardize the harvest, carry out greening, only then can you count on regular, high yields of apricots.

What are the ideal conditions for the growth and fruiting of apricots to aim for? Apricot trees reach a height of 5-15 m. They are heat-resistant, heat-loving, with a powerful root system. They start bearing fruit 2-3 years after planting and live 40-60 years.

To provide the tree with such a long, fruitful life, you should choose a well-heated place for planting, sheltered from winds and drafts, with light, loose and fertile soil, preferably clay, with a neutral acidity of pH 7-0, 7. Groundwater should not be located less than 5 m from the surface.

To protect young apricot trees from severe early frosts and snowless winters. tree trunks are mulched (with straw, sawdust, humus). and the trunks are whitewashed for the winter with garden white from frost holes. Apricot does not respond well to turf. Black fallow is the best soil management system in an apricot orchard.

From a tree that no one cares for, it’s hard to expect a decent harvest and long life. After the seedling is planted, it is necessary to form a crown so that its height does not exceed 3 m, then it will be possible to take care of it, collect it with minimal use of additional devices. The shape of the bowl allows you to achieve this effect.

On low, well-insolated, compact crowns the fruit yield is always higher and of better quality than on bold ones, the fruit of such trees is always of better quality.

COLLECTING AND CUTTING APRICOTS

APRICOT DOESN'T SEE FRUIT EVERY YEAR

The apricot tree is characterized by high vigor of growth and great shoot formation.

Most of the crop is planted on short branches (spur sprigs and bouquets) and, to a lesser extent, on strong annual shoots.

The best quality fruit develops on shoots growing alongside thick branches. Therefore, in summer, from about mid-June, the apical buds of young twigs are pruned, and then as the shoots grow, the operation is repeated to induce the growth of overgrown shoots that form next year’s flower buds. This creates abundant fruiting.

In addition, in mid-June, gardeners carry out summer pruning, which allows them to extend flowering for another year and give the trees a chance to escape the frost and maintain at least a small yield.

If the fruit is already pouring onto the trees, pruning is done on the current year’s increments, where there is no harvest. And after collecting the fruit – on the remaining branches. Summer pruning is done so that young shoots have time to grow and there is a differentiation of fruit buds on them. If you cut them after harvest, the new twigs will not produce enough fruit buds, or the young twigs will not have time to wood and hibernate.

HOW TO HELP MORELA AVOID THE FROZEN?

Pinching green shoots and summer pruning of the flowering wave can be extended for two weeks or more. In this way, the apricot can avoid early spring frosts. After all, if an open flower already dies at a temperature of -1 ° C, a closed bud can withstand -4 ° C, and a tightly closed one – and more.

Fruiting apricots need good nutrition. However, the doses of fertilizers during application should be optimal. Because high concentrations of, for example, nitrogen fertilizers significantly deteriorate the quality of the fruit. They are poorly colored and gain little sugar.

WATERING APRICOTS

APRICOT DOESN'T SEE FRUIT EVERY YEAR

During the growing season, it is recommended to water the apricots several times. The first is done before flowering, but only when there is not enough moisture in the soil. The second, much needed and useful, is two weeks after the apricot bloom, as it contributes to the strong growth of the shoots. The third watering is done 2-3 weeks before harvesting the fruit to increase its size and improve its commercial quality. After harvesting, another 1-2 waterings are made to better diversify the fruit formations. In late autumn, in warm, dry weather, irrigation with water is carried out.

POLLING APRICOTS FOR REGULAR HARVEST

APRICOT DOESN'T SEE FRUIT EVERY YEAR

Apricot varieties are self-fertile and self-fertile. And if you chose a self-fertile variety for planting, and there are no other apricot trees nearby, you will have to buy another seedling of a different variety.

Novice gardeners often complain that a young and healthy apricot enjoyed flowers, but did not bear fruit. If the apricot flowers fall before they can form the ovaries (under normal weather conditions, no frost), it may be due to a lack of pollination. This means that either the variety is self-fertile and there are no pollinators nearby, or no pollinating insects have appeared.

It also happens that the ovary formed nevertheless, but then completely disintegrated, leaving only green leaves on the tree. As a rule, this is how the tree signals a catastrophic lack of nutrients to develop. And since survival is more important than cultivation, the tree gets rid of that extra burden. The same thing happens when there is not enough moisture in the soil.

To keep your apricot orchard healthy and fruitful, no extra effort is needed. It is enough to provide the trees with a warm and bright place, irrigate, feed, regularly carry out green treatments and pruning, and protect them from diseases and pests, then they will reward you for your work with beautiful and useful fruits.
